Book design? In the browser? If only we were so blessed. Find out how blessed we really are in this short workshop, where we’ll acquaint ourselves with Bindery.js and some other helpful tools to make interactive, readable, printable books in the browser using HTML, CSS and JS.
- Learn the fundamentals of Bindery.js.
- Integrate Bindery with a static site generator.

Poke around the bindery site if you want!
At Index, we approach web development as a creative practice. We blur the lines between design and coding, often making websites that resemble experimental art rather than something commercial. In this series, we showcase developers' approaches to painting a website, inspired by Bob Ross's "The Joy of Painting" series.
Watch as a website is constructed from scratch, layer by layer. Learn to think critically about how the web is built, why it's built that way, and then throw it all out the window as we explore radically different techniques and perspectives.
Based on prompts from the audience (that's you!), our featured developer will re-create complex effects and demystify the tools of the trade. By participating in the creation of the site step by step, you'll learn to see the browser as a canvas.
Jake is a designer working in New York. Right now he’s working with Alright Studio and operating a small design office called Arcades.
