Layoffs and budget cuts have left a lot of products without a product manager, projects without a project manager, and practitioners fending for themselves. Even before historic downsizing in the tech industry, Product Management was a challenging role to hire for and retain. The discipline is difficult to define and operates in a constant state of flux. But if you’ve ever worked with a good one, you understand they offer crucial skills for getting things off the ground. They are good at figuring out what to do first, what to do next, and how to get things unstuck. They build alignment, tackle the unknowns, and handle surprises with ease.
Whether at work or in daily life, product management skills are essential. Yet sharpening them doesn’t require technical training. In this collaborative conversation, Product and Growth Consultant and two-time Head of Product Mariclare (MC) Hall will boil product management down to its essential pieces and teach you an approach you can use to professionally and personally embody the spirit of a product manager.
