Index FM is a community radio platform for talk and music — anyone can submit a segment to be played at index-space.org. Think of it as an aggregator for all the cool work the community is tapped into like podcasting, long-form writing, DJ mixes, personal playlists, etc.
FAQ
What is community radio?
Community radio is radio made by and for the community. It is non-transactional (read: no one is making money off of this), and the tone and content reflect the values of the community.
How does it work?
Anyone can submit a segment of audio content to be played on Index Radio. Each week, the Index team aggregates segments and programs a schedule to play the following week. The radio player can be found on index-space.org and played on desktop and mobile.
What kind of audio content will be played?
Playlists, live or prerecorded DJ sets, interviews, conversations, talk... If you can hear it, we can play it.
Are there any formatting requirements for audio content?
An Index Radio Segment looks like a podcast/talk show/reading that is broken up with songs. We have a license to stream any songs that appear in this repertory. Your segment should be between 5 – 60 mins and be formatted with an opener and closing statement to bookend the segment.
How do I submit a segment?
Email us at radio@index-space.org and we’ll send you over a submission form!
Are there ads?
Fuck no! Though we may promote our own upcoming programs from time to time.
How are the segments promoted?
We’ll create artwork for each segment and promote the lineup on a daily and weekly basis on our Instagram @index_space and Twitter @index_space_org.
