Our Noticing series is a growing network of group walks initiated by Alex Wolfe, a pedestrian artist, who started our Noticing: group walk series in NYC that took place in the Summer of 2024. He has since created a How to Host a Group Walk guide to enable an expansion of this program to whomever would like to host their own group walk in their respective city anywhere in the world. We are thrilled to announce our inaugural Winter solstice walk in Montréal with artist, Vincent Charlebois. If you would like to facilitate your own group walk, send over a little bit about yourself and your idea for a group walk at info@index-space.org.

This walk invites participants to explore Montreal through its layered infrastructure: the historic Lachine Canal, the arteries of highways and train tracks, and the tranquil riverbanks of Verdun. As we traverse downtown, industrial zones, and natural landscapes, we’ll reflect on how these elements shape the city and our experiences within it. This journey is perfect for those curious about Montreal’s intersections of history, urban life, and nature.

Guided by a unique lens that blends storytelling and observation, this walk offers an opportunity to connect with the city in new ways. Whether you’re drawn to industrial heritage, fascinated by urban design, or simply looking for a moment of quiet reflection by the water, this walk has something for you.

Benefits

  • Gain a deeper appreciation of the city’s infrastructure and its historical and cultural significance.
  • Experience the contrasts that make Montreal so vibrant.
  • Connect with like-minded individuals through shared exploration and conversation.
  • Exercise and mental wellness.
  • A space for creative documentation in your medium of choice.

The walk culminates in a peaceful riverside gathering, complete with warm beverages and a fire—an ideal way to reflect on the journey and foster new connections.
